Zen Hut Launches Refined London Wellness Model Centered on Fair Therapist Pay
Zen Hut launches its refined London model after testing multiple formats since 2023. Built by the team behind The Massage People, the platform offers professional home treatments inspired by spa quality and centered on fair therapist pay.
LONDON, UK / APRIL 22, 2026 / Zen Hut, the at home wellness app developed by the team behind The Massage People, today announced the launch of its refined London service model following several years of testing, iteration, and brand development.
The wider business first entered the market more than 10 years ago through The Massage People, building operational experience in mobile massage, therapist recruitment, customer support, and booking technology. In 2023, the company introduced Zen Hut as a separate brand and began trialling different ways of serving the market, including models that allowed therapists to set their own rates and accept bookings from home based treatment rooms.
Following that testing period, Zen Hut has now settled on a more focused model designed to deliver consistency for customers while putting therapist earnings at the centre of the proposition. The current model focuses on professional, high-quality treatments booked in the client’s home, with therapists arriving equipped with everything needed for the session, including a portable treatment table.
A key part of the launch is the company’s pay structure, with therapists keeping 75% of what the customer pays, making them an outlier in the industry. Zen Hut says this therapist first approach is not new to the business, but an extension of the model established by The Massage People, which launched in London more than 10 years ago and has long operated with lower commission than many comparable platforms. The company believes fairer earnings are not just a recruitment point, but an important part of service quality, therapist retention, and long term sustainability.
“After years of testing different ways of running the brand, it became clear that the strongest long term model was the one that combined consistency for customers with fairer economics for therapists,” said Daniel Makk, founder of Zen Hut. “The goal was never to build a platform around squeezing practitioner pay. Zen Hut has been shaped around a simple principle: premium service for clients and a more meaningful share of revenue for the therapist delivering it. We’re able to support that fairer split by taking a practical, common-sense approach to operating costs, including remote work for our developers and support staff, and by running a lean model that avoids unnecessary overheads. Those efficiencies help us pass on fairer rates to therapists which in turn results in a higher-quality experience for customers.”
Zen Hut also enters the market with a customer rewards programme designed to encourage repeat bookings and strengthen long term customer retention. The company says the combination of fair therapist pay and customer rewards reflects a broader strategy focused on building a durable brand rather than chasing short-term growth.
Customers booking through Zen Hut can arrange professional high quality treatments at home through a platform designed to make the process simple and flexible. The launch also gives Zen Hut a clearer market identity as a separate brand, while still benefiting from the operational knowledge and infrastructure developed through more than a decade of experience in the at home wellness space.
The company says the longer term vision for Zen Hut extends beyond London and beyond massage alone. Future plans include expansion into additional cities, selected international markets, and other wellness and beauty categories, including mobile physiotherapy, assisted stretching, osteopathy, and selected beauty services.
“Zen Hut was never intended to be limited to one service or one city,” added Daniel Makk. “The first priority was to find and then refine the right operating model. With that now in place, the brand is in a much stronger position to grow into new markets and new categories over time.”
By formally launching this refined model, Zen Hut is positioning itself as a therapist-first wellness platform with a stronger commercial proposition for practitioners, and broader ambitions for expansion in the years ahead.
